idea of starting a new label, completely apart from Mortification Records, came in January of 2008. had previously created Mortified Productions in October of 2007 and that folded in December of 2007 or January of 2008.
Indie label motivated by the coming trend which wasn’t really a trend at the time at least for me since I came from a metal background. I was discovering a completely new genre
it’s possible that the compilation was worked on during the transition from Mortified Productions to Abridged Pause Recordings, because I vaguely recall telling someone that I was working on this as MP but that I would release it under a new record label name.
also i probably wanted a new name for an indie label
I made a Notepad list of a bunch of potential label names
the name Abridged Pause Recordings was chosen in early February of 2008. (submitted it to RYM on February 12th)
https://rateyourmusic.com/labels/profile_history?label_id=19613
Transatlantic Recordings was considered
The reason for using “Recordings” in the name, as opposed to “Records” or “Productions” (which I had already used through Mortification Records and Mortified Productions) was influenced by two record labels that I really respected and looked up to at the time: Eulogy Recordings and Ipecac Recordings. It’s also possible that I wanted something that stood it apart from Mortification Records and Mortified Productions.
after VE ep release, what did I do? release was delayed because of artwork, finally came out March 14th, but then what?
maybe some promo in April once artwork was actually done and release date was backdated.
move to De Lanaudiere in May and have issues with recording stuff on my computer. remember having issues for like a year (finished Travels in June of 2009)
worked on Human Infect over winter/spring of 2008
june-september made plans for split with Ethereal Beauty (planned for APR already)
Jeremy tells me he needs some bands for the website design, didn’t want to make a website without content. So I started looking for new bands to sign (I originally wanted to launch the label before signing bands)
late August or early September I found Dreams of the Drowned and Black Autumn and changed label direction from Indie to atmospheric black/sludge (metal https://rateyourmusic.com/labels/profile_details?id=32007)
at first I didn’t want to do a compilation on APR, because I had had such bad luck with the Triskalyon Promo Pack on MR and with the Mortified Productions compilation.
I eventually decided to do a compilation to introduce the record label and gather a better fanbase and showcase the genre I was going for and to gain some time since Dreams of the Drowned wasn’t finishing up the album promised and Black Autumn wasn’t ready yet.
probably started working on Diluvian Temperals in late 2008, maybe December.
it was originally supposed to come out in April of 2009.
only came out in August of 2009.
Discovered Black Autumn in August/September of 2008, fell in love with the song “Ophelia” on Myspace. “Rivers of Dead Leaves” wasn’t out yet, it only came out in December of 2008 and I wanted to release it but he had already agreed with Antichristian Front Records. So we made plans to release his next full-length, which took some time and was eventually released as “Aurora” by another label because I didn’t have the funds.
