After I released “Bonjour Tristesse” and “Adieu Tristesse” on Abridged Pause in November of 2013, I started looking for labels to submit songs for compilations. One of the labels that got back to me was Roach Clip Records from Salt Lake City, Utah on November 17th 2013, after I saw a post on his website asking for new bands to contribute. He was putting together a dark ambient and dark electro compilation called “insomniSerpent Volume 1”, a dedication to sleepless nights. At first I planned to send in a new Soufferance song that I was going to record but the old problem came back when I had computer problems and prevented me from doing anything. So I ended up sending in the Citadel Swamp song that Valerio Orlandini and I composed back in January of 2011. Kevin Cazier loved it and included it right away. That lead me to work on a second Citadel Swamp song in January of 2014.
This was the message confirmation from Kevin:
Greetings Everyone,
Just wanted to say THANK YOU ALL for submitting your tracks for “insomniSerpents Vol. 1”. If you are receiving this message your track has been selected. The compositions that were sent in were all absolutely magnificent and should make for a great compilation!!! Some tracks step beyond the boundaries of “Dark Ambient & Dark Electro” giving a tad of diversity in Drone, Noise & Darkwave as well. Honestly, all the tracks were so well done I found it hard exclude any. The over all feel has a Gloom, yet Mystical atmosphere to it. The tracks that have vocals (though only 3) give the comp a sort of monologue while the rest give a very “Film Noir” cinematic soundscape. Really well done! My expectations were exceeded for sure.
Once again, this will be a “name your own price” download. Think of “insomniSerpents” sessions being like a midnight radio broadcast. All tracks deserve a listener’s undivided attention. That is why it will download as one single 70-80 min track. That is also why all tracks have been carefully arranged and intermix with each other…. to keep the mood flowing without a pause. I apologize if tracks were sent in without knowing the details of this comp but it has been posted since day one on the RCR website, Relaxed Machinery blog and Brutal Resonance news page.
HOWEVER, if you insist on your track also being available as a single download I can add each track as a bonus track. The “Bonus” tracks won’t be listed publicly but will be downloaded with “insomniSerpents”. This way… the fan will have you in the mix and have your single isolated track as well. PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU WANT YOUR SINGLE AS A BONUS. Not everyone wants to do that because some tracks are exclusive to upcoming albums and some artists only want the track available in the mix.
Release date is set for February 14th. Valentine’s Day.
