Lucid Dreaming in New Jersey

“Lucid Dreaming in New Jersey” (original title “Lucid Dreaming”) was a film made by my friend Howard Change. He had begun filming it in the summer of 2010 and asked me to come down to New Jersey and act a small part in the film. During the weekend of July 30th 2010, I had planned to get a lift when my grand-mother and uncle were driving my sister Marie back home. After weeks of planning, my uncle decided not to drive us down anymore, and I got into a huge argument with him, letting him know how worthless I thought he was.

A day later I called my grand-mother to find out what the latest news was, only to find out from her sister that she had managed to convince my uncle to make the trip again, minus me. By the time I found out and called them, they were already across the boarder. This family betrayal led me to release the Lanterns Awake EP “The Unforgivable Truth of a Broken Family, a Contemporary Piece in Two Parts” later that summer. As far as I knew, that was it for my chance in being in a film.

When Howie finished a first edit of the movie and sent it to me, I was blown away. Everything he touched was pure genius. He then proceeded to start a new music project, “Valleys of the Living” to compose the music for the film. Abridged Pause Recordings was set to release the movie and soundtrack in a CD/DVD/digital package.

In February of 2012, I finally got to work with Howie again on the Vision Éternel album “The Last Great Torch Song“. He provided guest lyrics and vocals on the last song, “Sometimes in Absolute Togetherness”. One of the song from this release, “Sometimes in Anticipating Moments” would finally reconnect me again with “Lucid Dreaming” in July of 2012. Howie had liked this song quite a bit and decided to use it in the soundtrack for the film. But he slowed down the song considerably, which made it sound completely different.

Somehow though, Howie never finished the film nor the soundtrack and nothing got released on Abridged Pause.
