Bolé was the planned first single from The Slopin Fairy 7’s full length “The Fairy“. It was fully planned but was never recorded, due to the priority of finishing the writing of the album. The single was to feature alternate takes of two songs from “The Fairy”, “Bolé” and “Break”, as well as a b-side, a cover of P.O.D.’s “Southtown”, and finally a music video on the enhanced section of the CD. I had planned to film stuff using my parent’s JCV GR-DVM90 camcorder and somehow edit it into a music video. I don’t know how I would have edited the video but I obviously didn’t get that far. The enhanced portion of the CD would have also been problematic because back then a lot of the tests I had made to burn CD-Rs with enhanced content put the media in front of the music, therefore causing track one on the CD to not play correctly.
The promotional idea was to have the single released prior to the album coming out. It was going to be packaged in a slim jewel case, so not much artwork was required. The single artwork was taken from the album artwork, which was created using Windows Paint. I used the spray paint feature to add a cloudy texture, inverted the colors and added the song title. The insert for the single was taken from a picture I had found online and used on the website. The artwork for the single was finished on September 28th 2003.
