Throne of Mortality – Monumental Dedication Demos (Summer ’06 Demos)

“Monumental Dedication” was intended to be a masterpiece in black metal. I had really high hopes for this, and all I was lacking was a drummer. The songs composed for this EP make up the great majority of Phase 1 and Phase 2, but the digital demos were only released in September so it made it to Phase 3. For me this EP was incredibly personal, with lyrics in themes of self hatred, lost love, Dracula and the moon; all the subjects important to me in my life at that time. The music was also composed to be very melodic, with perhaps a slight viking metal approach, but over all it was something rhythmic. The artwork was a painting by Victor Hugo, one of my favorite authors and artist, “Le rocher de l’ermitage” and I feel it represented quite well the dark side I was going through at the time. Der.Walsch/Lansquenet created the band logo, and this was the only place it was ever used.

The breakdown at the end of “Sa Voix Dans Ma Tête” was influenced from the Necrophobic song “Sacrificial Rites”. Other songs also had breakdowns at the end during jam sessions but were not always recorded when demoing the album.

An early title for this release was “Summer ’06 Demos”
