Early 2009 was approaching fast, and I still couldn’t write enough material for a third Vision Éternel EP. I think it was in November that I got in touch with Frozen Veins Records. He had added me on myspace and I sent him a message asking if he wanted to work with VE. He responded right away, yes. I knew I wouldn’t have enough new material for a third EP by February or March, and as the label was from Japan, I felt that the new EP couldn’t come out on the label, mostly because I self release all the VE material. Because I wasn’t even sure of how much more VE material I would write, I discussed the possibility of releasing a compilation. He was interested. So I put together the two EPs that were released, and I gathered what I felt were the best listenable b-sides. I didn’t want to select more because honestly I didn’t think I had much more that was that attractive to fans. The second EP had been sort of a flop compared to the first (and still today is the least appreciated of the akbums). I was going to have trouble with the artwork again, because I had nothing. I think I must have borrowed someones camera to take a few pictures of a rainy day through my kitchen window of my backyard. I worked on those covers through December and January. In late December though, Léonie and I broke up, so the mood of the compilation changed. I was much more emotional and what I wrote in the booklets was reflecting my current emotions. I wanted to do something influenced by Saul Bass for the artwork. Maybe it didn’t work as well as planned…

most of the original photos were lost. one of them was labeled as 08-09-08 (either August 9th or September 8th of 2008), much earlier than i originally thought. Cannot remember if I did borrow someone’s camera but I most likely used my Nokia Krazor phone.
December 14th 2008 received payment from Yusuke Ooka through PayPal.

Wrote to Nidal: VE is actually getting released in japan. a compilation oif both eps with bonus shit.. im working on a poster at the moment that will be pressed with it. APR will be active in 2009.
Status update: is now making money off his music
I love the title so much of the compilation, that I think I will reuse it for the complete discography of the band in the future. There was actually a typo in the covers that led to much frustration in the future, when people were posting it online. The alternate take of “Love within Beauty” was labeled as “Love within Beauty (alternate)” on the back cover, but its proper title, inside the booklet was “Love within Beauty (Alternate Version)”. That song eventually became “Season if Absence”. The b-side “Love within Hope” was surprisingly appreciated by fans, even one who made a fan video for it! “Season in Seclusion” eventually became “Thoughts as Years”, one of my favorite songs from the third EP. The release was accompanied by a poster, which featured the same artwork as the album. Yusuke Ooka released the album quite fast and even paid me 100$ upfront for the future profits of the album. However the label folded a few years later and he disappeared.
