Since February 2007, Vision Lunar had been going down. People were slowly forgetting about it, and even if I had always hoped to get a band going with it, it just never worked. But in the summer of 2010 I found some new Quebecois blog, WTF Metal Music, that posted something on Vision Lunar. I was impressed and talked to the guys from the blog, and it turned out that I wanted to make a proper farewell to the band. No CD was ever made for anything VL, and i think their was a total of three CDrs that possibly had one or two VL songs combined with Vision Éternel material. So Lunar was very low on self esteem.
It was as far back as January 4th 2007, when the sound of Vision Lunar started to evolve into something bigger, that I had the idea to package the first three demos and call it “Phase One: Marche Forêstiale”. It’s highly likely that the name was influenced, at least subconsciously, by the Gorillaz DVD titled “Phase One: Celebrity Take Down”, which was released in late 2002 and which I had procured on Amazon in 2005 or 2006.
Initially announced as a “Collector’s Set” to be released by the end of January of 2007 and strictly limited to 20 professionally pressed copies, it would have featured all three 2006 demos, bonus unreleased demos and interviews. Darklink was supposed to record an audio interview, and I started planning out questions for it but it was never recorded. The new material being written by Lunar was to be in a second phase and this was to celebrate the end of the first one. I had my friend Jeremy Roux make artwork for it, but it never came out. I decided to revive that idea and artwork for the complete discography of Lunar. It contains all seven released demos and ten unreleased songs. Only five copies were made and the ones who have it are myself, Darklink (Phil Altobelli), Alex Luca, Marc-André Girard and Marc Andrew Landles (both Marc’s were from WTFMetalMusic). The CDrs that I burned were tagged with white ink the letters “VL” on them, and then spray painted completely black, so the letters would crackle white embossed veins through the black.
The song “Bouncing Harmonics Song” was not on the compilation CD because I wasn’t aware of it at the time. The song had remained in the “Tom & Alex Project” folder for seven years before I listened to it and realized it was without a doubt a Vision Lunar song.
