At the time Triskalyon was brand new, the goal was to get as many bands and projects in as possible. We wanted to have so many different genres within the people involved that I was myself separating everything. I feel like this should have been a continuation of Throne of Mortality. But I was writing so much new material at this time that nothing was making sense. First of all, Vision Lunar was tuned in drop D, as opposed to standard tunning of Throne of Mortality. The music, even from this first demo here, although primitive, was much more atmospheric than Throne of Mortality. It could have simply been a new phase of compositions, but I was working on new Throne of Mortality songs at the same time. Later it became obvious that Vision Lunar was a different mood and atmosphere than Throne of Mortality but what if I had simply continued to release this new material under the Throne of Mortality name? It simply would have been an evolution.
This demo is surely not something I brag about, and is very likely to be the first one a lot of people check out. I feel that if they can get passed this first song, they are in for a treat, but this one was a typical beginning.
I came home from work on Friday night, the night of October 6th 2006, and there was a full moon out. I said to myself, shit there’s all the inspiration I need in this. This is natural untouched beauty. I went home and composed “La Forêt Enchantée”. That same night the first Vision Lunar demo was born.
I didn’t realise this until the summer of 2017 but the title of the song, “La Forêt Enchantée”, could have been subconsciously suggested by a conversation that I had with my maternal grandmother, with whom I was living at the time. I was already a classic film buff and I asked her one day what the first film she ever saw was. It was “The Enchanted Forest”, a color children movie released in 1945.
